ncwcc 1st XI cricket team

"Wanderers 1st XI play in the Premier Division of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance, which is the senior league in Norfolk. The club has a very strong tradition of raising talented young players through the ranks, on into higher grade cricket. The team currently boasts a
number of other exciting juniors with at least minor counties potential and we hope to build this season on the success of previous years.

Mixed in with the young pups are some slightly older (although not necessarily wiser) heads. In Nigel Young's case, this head is also completely bald! Mind you, the old timer can still bowl a bit! The first team usually also throws a foreigner into the melting pot and its current "guest" is Ben Christensen from New Zealand. Ben will be available for coaching/training throughout the summer and will be helping out with our junior coaching programme. We recently made Ross Taylor, who is the current New Zealand captain, a Life member of the club. Ross played with us as a 19 year old in 2004.

We are always striving to better and we try to be as friendly as possible. We have a proud tradition of making players feel welcome and we hope that the 2011 season will be a happy and successful one for the whole club, as we build towards out centenary year in 2013.

Ali Ponder

(First team Captain)
